Ahmad Hammouz, P.Eng. This course provides an in-depth introduction to Building Automation Systems (BAS), focusing on how modern buildings use centralized control systems to optimize performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. Students will explore the transition from traditional pneumatic controls to intelligent Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, gaining a clear understanding of how BAS integrates HVAC, lighting, security, and energy systems into a unified network. Through practical examples and technical insights, the course explains key BAS components, communication protocols, and data-driven strategies such as Demand Response and predictive maintenance. It also addresses the role of BAS in supporting sustainability objectives through integration with renewable energy sources. By the end of the course, learners will be well-prepared to evaluate, implement, or manage BAS in both new and existing buildings. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. ![]() NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public.
